NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Nashville Predators Foundation is partnering with an event offering people gift cards, preseason vouchers and freebies if they turn in guns to city police.

The NHL team says its foundation is a partner in Saturday’s event at Greater Revelations Missionary Baptist Church.

People can turn in firearms to the Metro Nashville Police Department no questions asked.

They can also drop off unused or expired drugs for the police to destroy.

In seven days of gun gift cards since 2011, people have returned 658 guns. This is the first year that the Preds Foundation has taken part in the event.

Predators vice president of community relations Rebecca King expressed hope that the initiative would make the community safer.
