Gift ideas “experience” for children

(WWBT) – If you’re shopping for kids and still need some ideas, here are some tips for giving experiences rather than a traditional gift.

The gift of time or fun can mean just as much to your children, and it will keep you from cluttering up.

Think about tickets to a sporting event, show, or movie. If you’re giving them a movie theater gift card, make it a little more special with some splurge, like popcorn and a drink.

Consider a day trip with the family or a one-on-one date at a favorite restaurant.

Give activities as a gift: offer to pay for a sport, an art class or private instrument lessons.

If you are looking for something more structured, you can go for a subscription kit. An Owl Crate came with a new book, journal, kit, and vocabulary kit. Girls can! Crate focuses on empowering young girls and educating them about successful women; one box had a cooking theme and a lesson on Julia Childs.

The Create Your Calm boxes contain tips on how to help your children recognize and find calm when they are faced with a difficult situation. It also includes some great tips for parents.

Experiences don’t have to be expensive; often it is the gift of time and attention that counts so much.
