Gift Card Program: Ave Bucks

Everyone loves the idea of having more money in their pocket, especially in these times of inflation. Well, whether you are a customer or a business, this program is for you.

I have mentioned in previous columns our participation in the Department of Community Affairs’ Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP) and the various programs and initiatives that are part of this larger program. One of the programs is a BOGO gift card program that we call Ave Bucks. Businesses in the NPP district can register their businesses to participate. Through NPP, we’ll match $25 for a $50 gift card purchase at participating businesses. This is being done successfully elsewhere and we strive to replicate that success here.

It is a victory for all concerned. This is a victory for the customer because it doubles their purchasing power. Everyone loves a bargain. This is a win for the business as it attracts more customers and more sales to the business. This is a win for our downtown and NPP district as it drives more traffic and interest to the area. What could be better?

Here is a reminder of spring planting day, which will take place, rain or shine, this Saturday, May 14, starting at 8 a.m. Adult volunteers are needed to help plant flowers in the Landis Avenue and Boulevard mini-parks. The focus will be on the various flowerbeds at the four corners and in the mini-parks, around the fountains and in other areas of the city center.

The mini parks have been a focal point for people visiting downtown Vineland and for people passing through downtown along The Ave. We are increasingly using mini parks for events and want to make them look as good as possible.

We also have other places along The Ave that are made more beautiful with flowers. Volunteers will meet at the military mural, in the southwest mini-park, Landis Avenue and the boulevard. Gardening gloves and tools will be available or volunteers can bring their own. Those interested in helping should call the Main Street Vineland office at 856-794-8653 or email [email protected]
